Back to Michigan.
Tonight, I’ll be heading back to Michigan. I’ll be living with my parents for the next 15 weeks, at the end of which I’ll be moving back to Los Angeles. During the next 3 months, I’ll be working as a teacher at my old high school. It should be interesting. I’m a little nervous, but I know I’m in good hands. My sister is getting married in Wisconsin on October 11th, and I’m really excited for her. I’m also excited for the upcoming election this November, because I think this country is in need of some serious changes. But mostly, I’m looking forward to moving back to California. I haven’t even left yet, and I’m already wanting to come back!
Moving from place to place has become a reoccuring part of my life, lately. Since graduating from college in 2005, I’ve moved 6 times, without ever staying in any one place for more than 8 months at a time. When I get home, I’m not even going to bother unpacking my stuff from Grand Rapids. I just want to keep it all in boxes. Maybe sometime near Thanksgiving, I’ll take all of my stuff in the backyard and burn it… or… maybe I’ll just leave it in my parents basement… we’ll see.
Moving around definitely takes its toll, but I’m starting to get used to it. I feel very primitive in the sense that I’m constantly having to adapt to new surroundings. It’s very liberating to know that I can pick up and move whenever I want.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my future lately, as I’m sure everyone does. I’m really torn right now. A part of me wants to settle down, find someone to love, start a family, buy a house, and get a job that will last me the rest of my life. The other side of me wants to cruise around the country in a convertable, experiencing everything this world has to offer, while working just enough to keep my stomache fed. I don’t know which path I’ll eventually take, but I know everything will work out for the best. It always does… I have pretty good karma.
I want to thank everyone who made my trip to California so special… especially Dave, Del, and Jim for giving me a place to stay, and all of my friends at Audio Specialties, for giving me a place to earn a little money. I love you all! See you in December!
